About this article
Published on 7 June 2024 in the public-relations news section of Matichon Online (in Thai), the article reports on a press conference held by the Urology Center of Bumrungrad International Hospital about the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, an enlarged prostate).
Dr. Atip's contribution
Dr. Atip explained UroLift: under light sedation, small implants are placed through the urethra with a scope to hold the enlarged prostate tissue apart, without cutting or removing tissue. He outlined which patients may be suitable — for example men with a prostate of up to about 100 g, men not fit for major surgery, and men who wish to avoid sexual side effects — and emphasised that each patient is assessed individually.
Other urologists at the event described laser surgery (HoLEP) and water vapour therapy. A video report of the event was published by TBT NEWS.
